Kittens can do some pretty silly things sometimes, and Samwise is pretty silly. In fact, Samwise is just a little bit oblivious when it comes to his tail. His tail is loaded with long fluff, and he waggles it all over any time that he sees someone who might want to pay attention to him.
Well, Sammy's waggling got him into a bit of a mess the other night. Dad and I were out running some errands, so Samwise was up in the back room with Mom. She was sitting in Dad's big recliner, where he has a small table by one of the arms which is a sort of mini-coffee table. There is usually a glass on there, pens, a phone . . . and anything else. The other night, Mom had a small diffuser there with a tea-light --- diffusing some peppermint oil. Sammy jumped up onto the arm of the chair and started his indiscriminate waggling. Mom said that it only happened in about fifteen seconds all together. He waggled his tail right into the flame on the tea light! Only a few of his tail hairs were singed (didn't even make it down to his tail), but the diffuser smells terrible! Mom says the room took a couple of hours to air out from the smell. Awful!
So, Sammy had a bit of an adventure. It's not every day that you singe your tail fur! Thankfully, God protected us all from it being a serious accident. :)
