Samwise just gets cuter by the day. And he's being really cute today. Here is a photo of him that was just taken about an hour ago. He had his chicken breakfast, played with the laser toy, sat in the window . . . How can things get better than that for a cat?
. . . except for himself, that is. Oliver loved his little brother, Sydney. Poor Sydney was a tiny kitten when the first three babies arrived at our door. He was so tiny that he had to take two or three running steps for every normal one that Oliver took. Oliver was so watchful of Sydney that we actually thought Mr. O. was a girl. But that's another story! Sydney lived three short months with us, but he is an unforgettable kitten. He was probably a runt from the litter, so it was a blessing that he was with us as long as he was. Before Sydney died, Oliver would go around the house talking in this cute, question-like meow. Once Sydney was gone, he stopped, and until a month or so ago just "pip-squeaked". His tale also went very stiff after Sydney's passing --- and it has been stiff since. We always joke and say that Oliver has only loved himself, except for those months with Sydney. In fact, it was just four months later that Manly was born, and Manly was a literal clone of Sydney. They played the same, ate the same, cuddled the same and looked so much the same that if it weren't for marks on the photos, we would not be able to tell them apart. So, we thought that Oliver would attach himself to Manly and love him. Nope. In fact, of all the kittens, Oliver refused to have anything to do with Manly. He just ignored him. So, Oliver still misses Sydney, but here are some cute pictures to prove that Oliver did love one of his siblings . . . once upon a time, that is. Little Joe was a cute cat that was a bit forgotten. He came to us as a baby kitten who had been fixed and vaccinated by the shelter when he was too young. The poor baby never really recovered from that. He always had sinus issues, he was deaf for a couple years and he died of the tooth disease that so many of our babes have suffered from. He was a cat with a lot of personality, that's for sure. He loved to explore --- anywhere. No place was too high, too low or too small. Not for Little Joe! Here is a picture that we just found. This was taken between December 26-31, 2005, just a few days after we adopted the little kitten. What a cutie!
You don't get much cuter than Samwise, that's for sure! Here is a brand-new picture of him. This is Sammy's very favorite bed. It sits on a trunk in the living room and the kitties can look out the window, soak in the sun rays and take a little cat nap. Elizabeth and I call it the "Pent House"! This picture looks just like him, too --- and that's a feat! He always blinks at the camera. :)
